Tamar Braxton Shaved Her Head Bald?!

tamar braxton In March, like some of you, we witnessed Tamar Braxton have her head shaved bald on Instagram. We were blown away by her decision, but we chose to not cover the story at the time to be respectful.

As you know, Tamar Braxton is currently going through a rough patch. She is separated from her husband of nine years, Vincent Herbert. Her Calabasas home is for sale or rent – depending on the offer. And she was let go from her hosting position on the daytime talk show The Real.

Despite what she has been through, we must say she looks beautiful. Her buzzed haircut accentuates her facial features, especially her cheekbones!

Feeling Free

On Lengthyhair.com, we advocate for flowing tresses. But as we delved deeper into Tamar Braxton’s reasoning for making the drastic chop, we felt her message of “feeling free” should be shared by us.

Braxton states,

Im over feeling captive to a wig, weave, people, people’s comments & opinions hell…even my OWN feelings! WE can choose to stop these things from having the power and victory over us!! And for me, that starts TODAY.

Like Tamar Braxton, many people, including our subscribers, feel captive to their hair enhancements and western standards of beauty. It is empowering to hear Tamar – a celebrity –  challenge the status quo.

A Bald Movement?

Braxton isn’t the only person reaching for the clippers. Other celebrities – women in particular – are proudly sporting a baldie. This includes: India Arie,  Sanaa Lathan, and Countess Vaughn.

tamar braxtonDid the smash hit Black Panther inspire women to make the drastic chop? Or is this a natural step for women (and men) plagued by hair enhancements?

In any case, we respect their choice and the introspection one must go through before reaching for the clippers. It is positively glorious when men and women choose to embrace their natural selves instead of relying on wigs, weaves, extensions, and toupees.

Our Thoughts?

We still advocate for healthy, lengthy hair. However, we commend Tamar Braxton and others for being brave and owning their beauty. Ladies, you don’t need to rock wigs, weaves, and extensions to be beautiful. And gentlemen, you don’t need to feel insecure about losing your hair. Be yourself! Be free!
