Happy Ending for ‘Gorilla Glue Girl’

Gorilla Glue Girl

We are relieved Tessica Brown, also known as “Gorilla Glue Girl,” is having a happy ending to her hairy predicament. We’ve been following her viral story for the past several days with curious eyes like most of you. If you don’t know who Gorilla Glue Girl is, you must have been hiding under a rock. Don’t worry. We will get you up to speed in this post.

Who is Gorilla Glue Girl?

It all started with a TikTok video posted on February 3rd. In the video, Brown explained how she ran out of her Göt 2b Glued hairspray and opted to use Gorilla Glue Spray Adhesive.

Unfortunately for Brown, Gorilla Glue Spray Adhesive is not for hair. In fact, it is an industrial-strength glue used for construction purposes! According to her video, since using the Gorilla Glue Spray Adhesive, her hairstyle was stuck in the same hairstyle for about a month and impenetrable, despite her shampooing 15 times.

Thankfully, after her plight went viral on social media, a plastic surgeon from Beverly Hills, California, named Dr. Michael Obeng, offered to help. After a four-hour procedure, he removed the adhesive, and TMZ was there to capture Brown running her fingers through her tresses for the first time since the ordeal began. The procedure costs $12,500, but Dr. Obeng kindly performed it for free! According to the doctor, her recovery will now take two to three months.

Lesson Learned

Look — we are guilty of slicking our hair and edges down for buns and other protective hairstyles too! We just prefer to use something gentle like Taliah Waajid Curls, Waves and Naturals Hairline Help

Some people have speculated that Brown may have confused the Gorilla Glue Spray Adhesive for Gorilla Snot hair products. It is possible.

In any case, Brown’s painful experience is a helpful reminder to be cautious of the products we apply to our hair. Take a few minutes and read the ingredients. If you don’t understand an ingredient, research it—our hair strands matter.

With that being said, we wish her a speedy recovery and hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else. HHG!
