Oil & Winter Months

Olive oilHair can dry out very easily during the colder months. Oil can help seal moisture inside of your hair when used properly.

On a daily basis (or every other day depending on your hair type), you can take a few drops of oil and apply it to your ends at night. You can then either braid your hair or secure your ends with rollers. This will keep your ends moisturized, which can help prevent frequent trims.

Oil can also be a great conditioner. You can apply oil evenly throughout your hair prior to washing your hair. Secure with a plastic cap (or plastic grocery bag) on your head. Then allow the oil to soak in your hair for a few hours. To kick it up a notch, after securing with a plastic cap sit under a hooded dryer or concentrate a handheld dryer on the plastic bag for 30 minutes. Make sure you have a towel handy to wipe any dripping oil. After a few hours pass, either shampoo or rinse out. Voila, shiny, moisturized hair!

Tip: Give yourself a nice hair massage when all the oil is applied. This will stimulate the scalp, which will promote hair growth.

Try adding some of these oils in your hair regimen: coconut, olive, almond, jojoba, and grape seed.
