Are You Obsessed With Hair Growth?

obsessedWhen I started my hair journey over a decade ago, I was obsessed with hair growth. I would often catch myself jotting down the remaining months in a year and calculating how many inches I could obtain. I would take lots of pictures of my progress, and at one point, I purchase a t-shirt with measurements on the back from a hair care forum.

Patience is Key

There is nothing wrong with doing any of these activities during your hair growth journey. However, you must have patience. The truth is hair can grow at a relatively slow pace, and if you are obsessed over it, it will drive you crazy. This is especially true if you have curly or coily hair. So relax and go with the flow.

To put it lightly, here at Lengthy Hair®, we all aspire to have long tresses flowing down our backs like Rapunzel. However, we have to let our hair have the opportunity to do what it is designed to do — grow. My mother used to say an old proverb, “A watched pot never boils.” This saying is common in the United States. It means things seem to move more slowly when one anticipates something or is waiting for something to occur.

Trust the Process

So take this as your friendly reminder to trust the process. If you are following our advice like keeping your scalp clean, deep conditioning, trimming when necessary, lessening your chemical use, and taking care of your body, you are in good hands. One day you will look in the mirror and see your hair is not hovering around your shoulder anymore; it’s tickling your back and beyond! HHG!
